Department of Mechanical Engineering

The college introduced B.E -Mechanical Engineering in the year 2009-2010 with the students strength of 60 which has been increased to 120 in the year 2011-2012. The department has got well qualified faculty who dedicate their services for the cause of Mechanical Engineering. The students are imparted with good inspirational lectures on kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, theory of machines, hydraulic and pneumatic machines, thermal and heat transfer, CAD/CAM, refrigeration and air-conditioning. The students undergo hands-on-training in well equipped laboratories of fine infrastructure, as required by the industry.

Mechanical Engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.. In addition to the core , many mechanical engineering programs offer more specialized programs and classes, such as robotics, cryogenics, fuel technology, automotive engineering, biomechanics, vibration and others, Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants . The field has continually evolved to incorporate advancements in technology and mechanical engineers today are pursuing developments in such fields as composites, mechatronics, and nanotechnology .

Sub- disciplines of mechanics include mechatronics which is an interdisciplinary branch of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and software engineering . Mechatronics is concerned with integrating electrical and mechanical engineering to create hybrid systems. In this way, machines can be automated through the use of electric motors, servo-mechanisms, and other electrical systems in conjunction with special software.

Robotics is the application of mechatronics to create robots, which are often used in industry to perform tasks that are dangerous, unpleasant, or repetitive. Most mechanical engineering programs also require varying amounts of research or community projects to gain practical problem-solving experience.
