Department of Computer Science and Engineering

The curriculum in Computer science and Engineering framed by Anna University lays greater emphasis on design principles and development of System Software for operating systems, Database Management Systems, Data mining, Computer Graphics and Networks, in addition to design & development of software packages, the course lays greater emphasis on Computer Engineering, Communication Engineering and Electronics Engineering which are of utmost importance in today's world. Miniaturization in Computer Technology, audio-video and image processing, storage and retrieval, data processing, communication and security etc.., are going to revolutionize the Computer knowledge in the coming decades. Industrial Training is an integral part of the curriculum. In keeping with the spirit of the curriculum the department stresses on nurturing the talent of students for top industries across the globe, for pursuing higher studies and R&D in National and International Universities.

Objective

• The department has a strong commitment to a high standard of academic excellence and aims to develop innovative, competent and high quality software professionals by imparting state-of-the-art technology and endeavor for constant up-gradation of technical expertise in students to cater to the needs of the society.
• With proper dynamic process of teaching, the latent potential of students will be exploited to the maximum level
• The department encourages students to participate in seminars conducted outside the college and also conduct at least two symposium/seminar/workshops in a year, allowing participation of students in TamilNadu /Nation for purpose of enhancing knowledge in appropriate fields of Computer Science and Engineering,

Salient Features

• Is located in the first and second floors of the Eastern Block of the college. The spacious class rooms and the tutorial room are in the first floor. All the computer laboratories are fully air conditioned housing 270 terminals in the second floor. The smart classroom is well equipped and mounted with latest LCD projector.
• Has well-qualified faculty members both from academic and industry. They have specialized in different areas such as Database, Wireless Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Operating Systems and Programming Languages, Open sources, Grid computing, Cloud computing, Data structures
• Frequently conducts seminars covering latest developments and trends in the field of Computer Science and engineering by inviting experts from academics and industry for enriching the knowledge of students. A fully equipped Seminar Hall having latest equipment like Over Head Projector and LCD projector with a seating capacity of 200 is used for this purpose.
• Has signed MOU's with IBM,BSNL for Department network communications which include a Fiber optic backbone, offering 8Mbps connectivity to the commodity Internet.
